As Arsenal look to challenge Manchester City at the top of the Premier League, one of their prize assets in 23-year-old Saka has never hidden his admiration for Ronaldo. Saka was put to the test with quicker questions in a recent Amazon Prime Video Sport clip and when asked who his idol was while growing up, he didn’t flinch in revealing it used to be Cristiano Ronaldo.
Saka is certainly not the first to be so effusive in his praise for CR7. The talented English winger, in an interview with Adam Talks a while back, couldn’t hold back his excitement when he was given the Gunners’ iconic No. 7 jersey-a number once worn by his childhood hero. This isn’t a shirt for Saka, it’s his story that he grows into, like Ronaldo’s 7.

Growing up, Cristiano Ronaldo was my idol. He wore – still wears – #7. “CR7 – that’s what he says to be called,” Saka revealed in the interview. “Getting that No. 7 was a dream come true for me and I’m just trying to emulate some of the stuff he’s done, especially at my club.”
The starlet went on to say: “With the 7, I’m going to try to do big things with this club because they showed me a lot of love by giving it to me, considering everyone who’s worn it before.
Saka’s Ronaldo nod epitomises how much of an influence the five-time Ballon d’Or awardee has had over the footballing world, and there will be a multitude of youngsters who see him as a gateway to success, sacrifice and desire. Saka’s also spoke of his ambition to replicate Ronaldo’s achievements and that drive will stand him in good stead as he continues on the path towards becoming a club legend at Arsenal.

Simply put, he has achieved what nobody else ever did. Everyone who graced the field of play has made history but his feats in particular will never be paralleled by any player in any generation or life. Everybody respects his values, and the numbers are there, it goes through the roof.
The Real Madrid boss Zidane was just the latest to provide his resounding endorsement of Ronaldo, whose story can be told over two different centuries and has been jam-packed with an almost incomprehensible number of silverware, records, and awards.
