A record 450 of those goals have come during the Portuguese legend’s nine-year stay at Real Madrid, and with no sign that the 39-year-old forward is winding down anytime soon. He is only on a quest to be the first player ever with 1,000 goals scored.
El Chiringuito TV journalist José Luis Sánchez recently described Ronaldo as the best striker of the last decade, and it is hard to argue. Sánchez released his top five ranking of strikers, sparking debates among fans and pundits over social media.
The top item featured Luis Suárez, the former Barcelona and Atlético Madrid striker. In fourth it was the legendary striker who has lit up both Bayern Munich and Barcelona over the years in Robert Lewandowski. Third was Sánchez pointing out the rapid rise of Kylian Mbappé from Paris Saint-Germain to a new planet that is Real Madrid today. The Runner-up was Real Madrid legend Karim Benzema, who ended up in first place is none other than Ronaldo at #1.

But Ronaldo has since conceded he may not be the leading candidate to win more Ballon d’Or titles. He retired as a five-time winner of the Ballon d’Or, bettered only by Messi’s remarkable haul of eight. But Ronaldo has lost interest in such personal awards, he insists. He opted not to and said: “Right now, at this time he must respect Al Nassr.
“Whether the best or not is no longer worth discussing,” Ronaldo said in a recent press conference. “I no longer care about that. Scoring is one thing but I prefer the team to win so it is all good for me I am a record-breaking machine, and I no longer search for them. The only thing is to forget the past and live in the moment, enjoy it as I’m enjoying and helping Al Nassr – my teammates – to win.

Ronaldo may be towards the end of his career now, but he is still doing business with Al Nassr having already won the Arab Club Champions Cup in 2023. But Ronaldo is still chasing the Saudi Pro League and King’s Cup, and he has made it clear that winning them is the target from here on in.
