Victor Osimhen is out of Italy, but not without making himself known as one of the all-time great goalscorers in Serie A. Soccernet reports that the Nigerian, who has just sealed a loan switch to Galatasaray from Napoli leaves Italy on only equal terms with football greats Cristiano Ronaldo and Ronaldo Nazário. ng.
Osimhen’s goal-scoring exploits while with Napoli were nothing but impressive. During his time in Serie A, the 25-year-old frontman managed an incredible goal every 125 minutes on average to rank third all-time for players with at least five of these strikes (Opta ranked just behind Cristiano Ronaldo and fellow Brazilian Ronaldo Nazário)
The striker’s move to Galatasaray comes after a summer full of drama as he saw transfer moves to the Saudi Pro League and Chelsea fall through. Napoli went out and signed Romelu Lukaku to replace him with the Serie A squad, who ended up as one of Osimhen’s big-money loan moves later on, switching over to local giants Fenerbahce.
When Osimhen landed in Istanbul he was greeted by a hero’s welcome as hundreds of passionate Galatasaray fans flocked to the Airport. While at Napoli, Osimhen impressed by scoring 65 goals and providing 16 assists in all competitions across only a total of 108 appearances. The most prolific of his Serie A years, better than Ligue 1 and the Jupiler Pro League
The 21-year-old may still be a shining star for Nigerian national teams, having hit the net 21 times in only his first 35 outings for the Super Eagles.
With Osimhen off to the next chapter at Galatasaray, his legend is secure in Serie A lore as an all-time great.
